History and Theatrics

From Portland, The Decemberists are known for their whimsical story songs and clever lyrics steeped in history. The band's name comes the Decembrists Russian revolutionaries who led an unsuccessful uprising against the czar in 1825.

Opening Act: Rebecca Gates

Rebecca Gates got her start in the Portland rock group The Spinanes in 1991. Gates later relocated to Chicago where she was involved with the city's underground music scene, working with artists like John McEntire of The Sea and Cake, and Brian Deck of Califone. Gates' debut solo release was Ruby Series in 2001.
